RYA Yachtmaster Fastrack course

Professional Sail Training from no experience through to Yachtmaster Offshore Sail Qualification with our Fast Track Yachtmaster Course over 14 weeks

Life after Coronavirus

We are putting together a Yachtmaster Fast Track programme that will start when mutually convenient to the students that book as soon as possible once travel resumes following the Covid-19 pandemic. Depending on government and health advice, we intend to start the course with an emphasis on theory to “quarantine” all students for two weeks before getting on board. This will involve theory lessons in our very spacious classroom with a 2m distance between each person.

The Canaries have been relatively untouched by Coronavirus with only few cases and no deaths recorded on Fuerteventura so this is a great place to come for a few months.

Why learn in the Canary Islands?

Apart from having year round sunshine, great food and drink, beautiful beaches, a huge range of water sports?

The Canary Islands are an amazing training ground to prepare for your Yachtmaster Offshore exam. The islands a famous for the steady (and sometimes strong!) winds. There is a wide variety of different berthing scenarios including marinas, against walls in tidal harbours, stern to (med style), lazy lines (sometimes known as slime lines).

You don’t need any prior experience to come on this course as we will teach you everything you need to know to be able to take the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Exam

Why learn with Sail The Canaries?

We have been teaching in the Canaries since 2003, our Chief Instructor, Clive has logged over 50,000 miles between the islands so knows them extremely well. Clive has been a Yachtmaster Examiner since 2011 and will be teaching the preparation before the actual Yachtmaster Offshore Exam.

We are the only RYA school to run our courses with only 4 students to the instructor! This means that every crew member who opts for one is guaranteed a cabin for the duration of the whole Fast Track Yachtmaster course. 14 weeks is a long time to spend with others without your own space!

Please take a look at our reviews on TRIPADVISOR to see what past clients think about us.

Course Programme

The course programme will depend on the experience if any of the people who book as it will be tailored to them. The first part of the course will be very skills orientated. Mile building trips will be scheduled later in the course (a minimum of 2,500 miles are required before you are eligible to take the Yachtmaster Offshore Exam). We do not have a rigid schedule as skills building and mileage building have different ideal weather scenarios so schedule decisions will be weather based.

We will definitely visit all 9 of the Canary Islands, we will also possibly visit the Savage Islands and Madeira.

We will also incorporate the SRC/VHF course, engine maintenance, diagnostics and servicing into the Fast Track Course when convenient.
